Chapter 9
I liked how the book ended with happier news about the Blumenthal family. They went through so many horrible hardships that it was really nice to know that something finally went right for this family. I liked that the family enjoyed their new life in America. The Blumenthals finally reached their final destination, that they could actually call home in Peoria, Illinois. Although, they were not near any of their family, they immediately made friends. Marion loved her new life and the fact that she didn't have to worry about her family staying together or their safety. The Blumenthals worked extremely hard, Marion and Albert in school and their part time jobs, and Ruth with work and moving up to working for a tailor. At the very end of the chapter, Marion tells how she met her future husband. It gives the book such an uplifting feeling and it is really good to know that Marion is on the way to continuing with her newfound happiness and freedom.
